Gear

Below are the products I use. All of these have been purchased with my own hard earned money and they are what works for me.

Brooks Ghost Running Shoes: I'm currently in Ghost 6, they update every few months it seems. I can not stress enough how important it is to go to a specialty running store and get fitted. I did not do that when I first started and I paid the price via injury and pain. This is the shoe I wear for my everyday running and walking workouts. (www.brooksrunning.com)

Saucony Kinvara TR Running Shoes: These are my trail running shoes. They do not get as much use as my Ghosts, because trail running is hard yo! (www.saucony.com)

Exercise Clothes: Mostly Danskin purchased from Walmart, cheap and it works. I do have a couple pairs of Road Runner Sports You Go Girl 2 1/2 shorts that are pretty awesome. (www.roadrunnersports.com)

Zensah: Compression Leg Sleeves. Theses things are the best. I lost one of my purple tie dyed ones, so now I only have one and a half sets of sleeves. If you are going to run any type of distance or a lot. Get sleeves.  I even have a small one for my left ankle that seems to always be the one I hurt. (www.zensah.com)

Bondi Bands: Not sure how I originally found them, but oh so glad I did. I could not exercise without these headbands, absorb tons of sweat and stay in place. The stay in place is the kicker for me, headbands never stay on...or they give me a headache...these stay on and no headache. I think I own like 5 now. (www.bondiband.com)

Nathan: For long runs there is nothing better than a hydration belt, unless you are one of those crazy ultra people, then you need a camelback. I use my belt all the time, my husband thinks I'm crazy, but I would rather have it and not need it, than not have it. Nathan Speed 2 Belt and get the Nathan Race Caps, they work better than the other caps.

Speedo: I'm a former competitive swimmer. Speedo swim suits are just where it's at for me. They are what I'm comfortable with. (www.speedousa.com)

Goggles: I tried something new recently, see above, I was a Speedo girl, but I knew they no longer made my goggles, so I did a little research and decided to branch out. I ended up with Aqua Sphere K-180 Goggles. I love them.

Bike: So my bike dates from about 1985. My date was a pretty serious recreational biker back in the day and actually bought me a really good road bike at that time, one that has stood the test of time. I have named her Lola. She is a Pink Peugeot and while I will include the link to Peugeot bikes, I honestly have no idea what the newer models are like for them or any brand really, lol. I just know Lola is close to 20 yo and still pretty awesome. (http://www.peugeot.com

Pearl Izumi: When researching I quickly figured out I needed a tri-suit ASAP, especially since I was doing a sprint and there was no time for changing shenanigans. I ordered many, and returned many. A few like TYR had great materials and great fit, but the neckline came up so high I felt like I was choking. I really like this Pearl Izumi Select Tri Suit. It's the perfect material weight (thin and light) for my race in August, comfortable, and when I did my brick in it, absolutely no chaffing! Plus it came with a sports bra!! Bonus.
